2014 - Team Selection
Riverhaven has the opportunity to gather the strongest teams for the competition. I would hope for at least fifteen armoured combatants from which to select the teams. My plan is to balance winning the competition with giving each combatant opportunities to fight. This will be done by trying to pick a team 10-20% stronger than the opposition. We will field our best team against the toughest baronies, and give more opportunity for less powerful teams.
Frankly, if we get the 'dream team' and everybody shows up, I will be hard pressed to award myself a spot in the top eight!
If we get above twenty-four combatants, we will split into two teams of approximately twelve. This will NOT be done before the day. This will only be done if we have more than twenty four combatants in armour, ready to fight before the tournament begins.

2014 - Heraldic Equipment
I have spoken to the current Baronage of Riverhaven. They are unable to attend, but have given their blessing. They will ensure a full set of eight Riverhaven tabbards will be available for the tournament, and a banner.
If you are able to compliment this with Riverhaven equipment of your own, please do. A sea of Riverhaven banners, shields and the like would be lovely. Please contact me if you are able to bring to Rowany Festival any extra gear above and beyond equipping yourself.

2014 What Tournament?
Barony of Origin Tournament:
As some of you are aware, I am running a tournament at Festival this year (2014),
know as "Barony of Origin".

The basic concept is, that it is a melee tournament, very much like
Heraldic Melee except that the teams are comprised/formed from where
people first began to fight in the SCA.
The rationale behind this is that it allows for people to fight outside
their standard household groups and allows people to fight with people
they normally would not get to fight. Additionally there will be no limit on
the amount of Chivalry per team, but its hoped that where there are
sufficient people that unbelts would either be subbed in or a second team
could be created with an appropriate spread.
For instance, a shire of Agaricus team could consist of: Berengar,
Theuderic, myself, Blethan and Aonghus
Smaller groups who do not attend festival on mass, could form a combined
team, ie Ynes Fawr/Aneala
Baronies and Shires may enter teams directly, however cantons and colleges default to their relevant Barony.
Baronies/Shires may enter more than one team.

Rowany – Sir Stigh Joghenson ( nominated by Sir Gui )
Ynes Fawr – Sir Wulfgar Dan Russell ( nominated by Oz )

Riverhaven – Sir Ysambart ( Bart Beswick)
Agaricus/Adora – Count Sir Berengar (Brendan Gill )
Politarchopolis – Countess Liadan ( Rachel Horne )
Combined Overseas Origins – THL Lucas ( Dash Db )
If you wish to join one of those teams, please contact the Captain directly. If you originate from a Barony not mentioned and you wish to nominate as Captain, please PM me.

Count Niall appointed me the inaugural captain. Mainly because we go to the same training, so there you have it. I am Sir Ysambart Cortin. Many of you will know me by previous names, such as Courtain de Bond, and maybe even Corwin De Bondi.
My principle trainers were Morna of Riverhaven and Cornelius von Becke back in the early 90's, and I call Riverhaven my Barony of Origin as I authorised there, and my first event was a Riverhaven Baronial Championship. I have been the Riverhaven Baronial champion under Baron Sir Agro and Baroness Mistress Glynhyvar, and wielded the hefty sword of that office in their court.
I now reside in Politarchopolis, but will never forget my northern roots.

Welcome
This blog will be an open spot where people can access information about the Riverhaven team in the Barony of Origin tournaments at Rowany festival. We have a lot of great armoured combatants who started in Riverhaven, plenty who started with Riverhaven and live there still, plenty who now live elsewhere and will answer the call. I want to bring us all together under the blue, white and gold banner, and forge a team that will leave the other baronies trembling.
